Cherries health benefits



If once were seductive red balls subject to some sort of aphrodisiac, we swear on them due to taste and health benefits.


Although it is home for a small round fruits, which belong to the family stone-fruit, Minor Asia, the territory between the Black and Caspian Seas, grow in temperate climates everywhere. In cherries is important the presence of folic acid, since this helps in smooth functioning of the brain and nervous system.

How to deal with cherries

To fully enjoy the taste, you have to pick them off at the stage of full maturity, as they don’t ripen more after picking. In the store you will identify them by fresh solid and shiny fruits without dead stalks. You can save them in a refrigerator or cold cellar for a few days, for longer storage is better a procedure of freezing or drying. Most vitamins, minerals and active enzymes will be preserved with a fast-freezing.

Cherries are suitable for fruit salads, jams, compotes, but not for cooking. As they lack of necessary fruit acids and taste becomes barren. Because of many health benefits is recommended to eat at least a quarter of a kilogram per day  during the season, but you have to know that after eating cherries is not advisable to drink plenty of water, as there can come to an inflammation. This result in nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramps.
